Doctor hotel visit in Koh Samui

Feeling too unwell to leave your room? An English-speaking doctor from Samui Medical Clinic comes to your hotel or villa anywhere on the island, day or night, to examine you and begin treatment at your bedside.

When the clinic should come to you

Some illnesses make even a short taxi ride feel impossible. An overnight fever, relentless vomiting after a beachside dinner, a migraine that will not ease, or a child burning up at 2am are exactly the situations our doctor hotel visit service is built for. Rather than travelling while you feel awful, you stay in your room and a professional, English-speaking doctor comes to you. Our team is based in Bang Rak at The Greens at Bangrak Bay, minutes from Samui International Airport and the Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai), and we visit hotels and villas across the whole island, day and night, every day of the year.

What the doctor brings to your room

A home or hotel visit is far more than a quick look and a referral. Our call-out kit lets the doctor manage most common travel illnesses on the spot:

  • A full examination with blood pressure, oxygen and temperature checks
  • Medication for fever, pain, nausea, diarrhoea, allergies and infections, dispensed at your bedside
  • IV drips to rehydrate you after food poisoning, heat or a rough night out
  • Wound cleaning and dressing for cuts, scrapes and infected insect bites
  • Sample collection for laboratory tests, processed the same day at our clinic

If your case needs something that cannot be done in a hotel room, such as an X-ray or a wider blood panel, the doctor will explain that honestly and arrange the right follow-up or hospital referral for you.

Coverage across the island

We drive to every corner of Koh Samui, including Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Fisherman’s Village, Maenam, Bang Rak, Choeng Mon, Lipa Noi and Taling Ngam. For most locations the doctor arrives within the hour, though the far ends of the island can take a little longer in high-season traffic. If you are well enough to travel, you are equally welcome to walk in for a consultation at our clinic, where the on-site lab and pharmacy usually resolve everything in one visit.

How to arrange a visit

Message us on WhatsApp or call our team. Tell us your resort or villa name, your room number and what is wrong, and the doctor will usually triage by phone first. If you are unsure whether you need a visit at all, a quick telemedicine call can often settle it. Booking takes only a couple of minutes and there is no appointment needed.

Cost and travel insurance

A hotel visit costs a little more than the same care at the clinic because you are paying for the doctor’s travel and time, so we always quote the call-out fee before the doctor sets off. There are no surprises at your door. We offer direct billing with most travel insurers, and for everyone else we provide a full medical report and an itemised receipt so your claim goes through smoothly. Cash and cards are both accepted.

When to go to hospital instead

A visiting doctor is the right choice for illness that keeps you in bed, but not for a true emergency. Go straight to the nearest hospital, or have your hotel call an ambulance, if you have chest pain or pressure, severe shortness of breath, signs of a serious allergic reaction such as facial swelling, heavy bleeding that will not stop, a serious motorbike accident, or sudden weakness, slurred speech, confusion or fainting. For everything short of that, stay where you are and let us come to you, 24 hours a day.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can a doctor reach my hotel?

For most locations across Chaweng, Bang Rak and Bophut the doctor arrives within the hour. The far ends of the island or heavy high-season traffic can add a little time, and we will give you a realistic estimate when you call.

Is the service available at night?

Yes. A doctor is on call 24 hours, every day of the year. Night calls for fever, vomiting and pain are exactly what this service is designed to handle.

What illnesses can be treated in my room?

Most common travel complaints, including fever, stomach upsets, food poisoning, dehydration, infections, allergies and minor wounds. The doctor carries medication, IV fluids and dressings, and can collect samples for same-day lab testing.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Our doctors are English-speaking, so you can describe your symptoms clearly and understand your diagnosis and treatment without a language barrier.

How much does a hotel visit cost?

A call-out costs a little more than clinic care because it covers the doctor’s travel and time. We quote the fee before the doctor leaves, so there are no surprises when they arrive.

Will my travel insurance cover it?

Often, yes. We offer direct billing with most travel insurers, and otherwise provide a full medical report and itemised receipt so you can claim reimbursement easily.

Can the doctor treat my child at the hotel?

Yes. We regularly see children for fever, coughs, ear infections and stomach upsets, and the doctor will advise you clearly on medication doses and warning signs to watch for.

When should I go to hospital instead of booking a visit?

Seek emergency hospital care for chest pain, severe breathlessness, a serious allergic reaction, heavy uncontrolled bleeding, a major accident, or sudden weakness, confusion or fainting. For anything less severe, a hotel visit is appropriate.
