Travel vaccination in Koh Samui
Rabies, tetanus, hepatitis and other travel vaccines given by English-speaking doctors in Chaweng — with international documentation you can use back home.
The vaccines travellers actually ask for on Samui
Most visitors don't think about vaccines until something happens — a monkey scratch on a viewpoint hike, a stray dog bite near the beach, a rusty pedal through a flip-flop. Others arrive knowing exactly what they need: the second or third rabies dose in a series started at home, or a hepatitis booster that falls due mid-trip. We handle both situations at our walk-in clinic in Chaweng, no appointment needed.
- Rabies — pre-exposure courses and post-exposure vaccination after animal bites or scratches
- Tetanus — boosters after cuts, coral scrapes and road rash
- Hepatitis A and B — single doses, boosters and continuation of series started abroad
- Typhoid — worth considering for longer stays or onward travel to rural Thailand
- Influenza and other routine vaccines on request
Bitten or scratched by an animal? Come in today
Thailand is a rabies-risk country, and rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear — which is exactly why post-exposure treatment matters and why it works so well when started promptly. If a dog, cat, monkey or bat has bitten or scratched you, or licked broken skin, wash the area thoroughly with soap and running water and come to the clinic the same day. The doctor will assess the exposure, clean and dress the injury properly — see our wound care service — and begin the WHO-recommended vaccination schedule. If you completed pre-exposure shots before travelling, tell us: it changes what you need. For severe animal attacks with heavy bleeding, or any sign of a serious allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing or facial swelling, go to the nearest emergency hospital immediately.
What a visit looks like
You'll see an English-speaking doctor who reviews your vaccination history, itinerary and allergies before recommending anything. Vaccines come straight from our on-site pharmacy, where the cold chain is properly managed, and you're observed briefly after the injection. Every dose is recorded with the vaccine name, batch number and date, and you leave with international documentation your doctor at home can use to continue the series. Can't get to us — no scooter, an unwell child, a packed schedule? A doctor can vaccinate you at your accommodation anywhere on the island through our doctor hotel visit service.
Costs, insurance and paperwork
Prices are quoted before anything is administered, so there are no surprises at the desk. We offer direct billing with most travel insurers — post-exposure rabies treatment after an animal bite is covered by the majority of policies — and provide itemised receipts and a medical report for reimbursement claims. If your insurer or employer needs formal paperwork, we can issue a medical certificate on the spot.
